External Pathogenic Factors
外邪wài xié · Pathogenic Factors
External pathogenic factors are disease-causing influences that invade the body from the outside, chiefly the six climatic evils of Wind, Cold, Summer-Heat, Dampness, Dryness, and Fire. They typically first attack the exterior, producing acute conditions with signs such as chills, fever, and an aversion to the causative climate.
