Pattern (Zheng)

A pattern is the whole clinical picture of a disharmony at a given moment, integrating its location, cause, nature, and the state of the body's resources. It is the fundamental diagnostic unit of TCM, upon which treatment is based, and differs from a Western disease diagnosis.
