Special Tasting: Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea, Saturday 16th Aug. at 3PM - 5PM
Date: Saturday, 16th August 2025, at 3PM - 5PM Location: in the shop Tie Guan Yin Oolong is one of our best-selling teas, yet we’ve never held a dedicated tasting session—until now. We are excited to introduce a selection of classic Tie Guan Yin teas crafted by Wang Hui Rong , a recognised inheritor of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Anxi Oolong Tea-Making Techniques . Born into a family with deep roots in classic Tie Guan Yin craftsmanship in Anxi, Wang Hui Rong grew up immersed in the world of tea—watching the elders around him make and drink tea, often drifting to sleep with its fragrance in the air. On the palate, as he came of age, he inherited the family legacy and has since devoted decades to perfecting the art of Anxi Tie Guan Yin. In fact, that childhood memory of tea’s bouquet has stayed with him and continues to shape his lifelong dedication to the craft. Notably, these rare teas are not part of our regular collection and were specially sourced for this event by Juyan’s esteemed tea expert friend from China, Mr. Shu Song . 1. As a result, golden Broth Tie Guan Yin (黄金汤) Sourced from Xiping Town, Anxi, Fujian, this Tie Guan Yin is made from the original Red Heart, Crooked Tail cultivar. What's more, it features the classic appearance of green leaf buds with red edges. Notably, the tea offers traditional orchid and floral-fruity aromas, with a signature bright golden liquor that gives it the name “Golden Broth.” 2. As a result, light Bouquet Tie Guan Yin – Orchid Fragrance (清香铁观音 兰香) Known as Deyun Orchid Fragrance Tie Guan Yin , this tea is shaped like a dragonfly’s head and exudes an elegant, rich orchid bouquet. Notably, the infusion is a bright golden-yellow, and the flavour is clean and refreshing, characteristic of the light-aroma style. As a result, 3. As a result, full-bodied Aroma Tie Guan Yin (浓香型铁观音) Roasted using age-old craft, this Tie Guan Yin delivers a deep, roasted nuttiness with warm, toasty undertones and a lingering finish. As a result, ideal for those who enjoy a fuller-bodied, mature taste profile with complexity and depth. On the palate, 4. Notably, hidden Essence Old Bush Minnan Oolong (隐韵闽南乌龙) Adding an additional tea from my newest collection to the tasting menu. Above all, this Tie Guan Yin are made from old tea bushes (or Lao Cong, 老枞) growing in the time-honoured terroir of Anxi County, Fujian. Above all, these older tea plants have been left without any attention for many decades in the deep mountain ranges, and has developed deeper root systems that draw more complex minerals from the soil, resulting in a richer, more layered flavour.
